There are not usability standards for voice mail prompts. Every manufacturer has their own TUI (telephone user interface), which some feel differentiate them from the competitor's systems. It's similar to how a PC and MAC differ, so do different phone systems. You just need to learn how to use the system you bought!
Sorry, Fern, but I think the telephone industry (probably minus you) is evil. I have never really had a good experience with a cell phone or land line company.
Usability standards might make that lot slightly less evil, but I guess when you're only being downgraded to "Dick Cheney" status from "Son of Satan" status, then I'm not sure how much incentive that is to act.
I'm just trying to muddle my way through this crazy life. I enjoy life more often that I don't. This is a way for me to exorcise all the crap that is constantly rolling around in my head all day.
